Humanstuck. Cronus is I guess highschool drop out like early to mid twenties I guess? And Eridan is his highschool age brother. yeah.

You figure, out of all the people in the world, if nobody could love you then at least your brother could. But you’ve ruined him already, without any regard for his feelings like a complete and total asshole. So why does he swallow up his pride and wrap his arms around you and dry your tears when you’re miserable like you’ve never done for him? When the Peixes have done too much and their words turn to truths that you were blind to before and you realize you DESERVE all the pain that’s been brought your way and all your feelings have dissolved into these choked sobs.

“Eridan, stop,” you plead with him and he shakes his head and hugs tighter. “Cro, you big idiot.” Eridan pulls you up from your pity party on the couch and drags you back to your room, silencing you when you try to protest. “Go to sleep,” he asks of you and drops you onto your bed. You’re a horribly selfish man, and you pull at his arm so he’ll stay. “Eridan, don’t go…”

Your voice, pathetic and sad, does things to him. He groans and crawls up next to you, setting his head on your shoulder. “No funny business,” he warns and you nod promptly, rubbing his back and cooing sorry. He tells you it’s alright and pulls the blankets over the two of you. “Goodnight, Cro.”

“‘Night, Eri. …I lovwe you.” You really, really do.

“I… lowe you too, Cronus. I lowe you too.”

You’re really not sure if he means it or not, but right now it doesn’t matter.
